Six months

My Dear Adelaide,

You are six months old... where did the time go? No... seriously- where? I can't believe you were born six months ago but at the same time, it is hard to remember life before you. You are still so incredibly sweet. You smile at everyone, all the time. The girls who check you in for your physical therapy (we might be done after the next appointment in 2 weeks!) always wait to see you smile for them. People at Mass make fools of themselves working for your winning smile. You are starting to get up on your hands and knees and rock back and forth. Originally, you pushed up on your hands and toes into a sort of downward dog position... it was amusing. We are afraid we are going to have an early crawler on our hands with you. I don't look forward to making sure every single choking hazard is nowhere to be found, but I do look forward to you being able to play with your sister more. She just loves you. She is already asking me if she can ask Jesus for some boys now. She loves her sister and now she wants brothers.

We went to your well check yesterday and, girlfriend, you are a monster. People who see you and find out how old you are sometimes ask if my husband is a very large man. You. are. big. We love you that way... your thigh rolls are the best thing ever and don't even get me started on your bottom. I wonder if one day you will be embarrassed to read that I spoke about your butt on the big world wide web... oh well- it's great. You are 19 lbs and 14oz (95-97th percentile). I think your sister was around 17 or so pounds at this age... you weigh almost as much as she did around a year old. I know that once you can crawl it will slow down so don't think that you were some freak of nature baby (although I called you a monster). You are also around 27 inches (95-97th percentile) which means you will probably be taller than me when you are about 10 years old. Your head started out in only like the 80th percentile or something like that--- you come from a family with large noggins (big brains- you know) and I thought 80th percentile sounded way too small. Don't worry- you are now up to 95th percentile and going strong (your sisters is off the growth curve... but she is beautiful- and don't make fun of her.)

You like to drink Mommy's milk- still no solids for you. You like to go in the jumperoo- when it's allowed. Your favorite thing is still when your sister runs in circles... you think it is hysterical, which in turn, makes us all think it is hysterical as well. You like to be held (of course) by most everyone as of right now. You are a pretty easygoing baby but you usually don't like to be left playing by yourself for very long. You have two teeth which you got at a little over four months old, and if you could be careful with those things (especially when nursing), I would really appreciate it.

(This picture was taken about a week before you were 6 months old- if we want to get technical.)

You are on the floor at my feet right now rocking back and forth on hands and knees and I can't believe how grown up you are already. Slow down. I say slow down but I can't decide if that is what I really want. You are amazing right now... but I can't wait to see what you learn next and where you go from here. Keep smiling. You are wonderful and you are loved beyond your wildest dreams. Always.
